The Paint Spot Newsletter (December 2012) All right which one of you guys either forgot to vote, voted third party, was so disenchanted to vote, or voted Democrat? It is said that for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction and as it relates to the Ciotti family I can tell you what happened when my son s mother (and the rest of the family on her side, who coincidently all live in that cesspool California) called to make sure all of us were supporting Obama. My son told the whole lot of them to never call him again! Imagine getting disowned over a political difference of opinion .sounds good to me! Hats off to you Shawn for being the hard working individual you are. You are your father s son and not only that, both your grand father and great grand father are smiling down on you! We have always believed in hard work, honest work, and never had our hand out for anything, and I don't care how many slugs say otherwise .we're right and they're wrong! As it relates to Slix and The Paint Spot I will tell you that for the next four years there will be zero dollars spent on charities, school donations, and advertising. I have already cancelled yellow page ads and the school rosters and programs, BBB, and NFIB. We have received several price increases since the election, and I have a plan to deal with them. Any of you Paint Spot customers that voted for Obama need to be proud of your decision and you can show that pride by proudly identifying yourself to us. With this information you ll be able to show your support for your president by paying the extra percent of the price increases. It s only right that you should pay your fair share , so please be as honest as your president, no deception. For the rest of you, I will absorb as much of these price increases as possible. Enough of this stupid stuff, Let's get back to reality! SIA Abrasives: I mentioned that we replaced Indasa with another brand of abrasives last month. This decision was actually a result of a bad corporate decision on Indasa s part over a year ago. Since that time we have tested the SIA line at Slix and a few of you guys out in the field have had samples to try. The results were unanimous, virtually no complaints! I have to be totally honest with you, Slix (when it was known as Canyon Color body & paint) used this product routinely. At that time we were supplied by Hoffman s Supply in San Marcos. It offered characteristics that none of the other lines had, such as hook it style in grits that no one else had and even a hand block that was two sided. One side of the block was soft and the other was hard, and if you haven't used them, you're really missing out! They are perfect for being able to sand over contours (soft side) while having the other side facilitate the flat areas without ever changing the paper or the block! These blocks were actually part of the decision to make SIA the replacement for Indasa. Without warning several years ago Hoffmann s discontinued the sale of SIA and all I was told was we just can't get it anymore . Believe it or not, those hand blocks lasted all these years, but finally after getting lost or run over by vehicles, we were down to only one. It was then that I researched the company (for the blocks only) and ended up as a warehouse distributor for not only Texas, but three other states as well. So what does this mean to most of you (body shop refinishers)? Basically two things: Number one a move way UP in quality! Number Two: A move way DOWN in price (except Democrats). For the Supply companies it means you ll have to buy it from The Paint Spot if you choose to sell it (your cost will be adjusted accordingly, except Democrats). This company is one of the top three in the world and used at the OEM level in some European markets. They offer a complete automotive line as well as an Industrial line. So Let's welcome the SIA name into our fold and ask for it by name when you place your orders. The next four years are going to be trying at best, so every dime counts, except Democrats! Hydrographics:

I don't know how many of you readers have heard of this technology so I will give you an explination. Hydrographics is a process by which one can digitally design a custom paint scheme on a computer, then print it out in full color on a transparent film. The design is limited only by the imagination and the ability of the person at the computer. Because it is so specialized, there are standard designs (hundreds, if not thousands) cataloged and available for the customer to choose from. These designs can be altered depending on base coat colors of part to be dipped as well. Then film is then laid gently on water in a large vat ink side up. The film is then sprayed with an activator and is now ready for dipping. Once dipped and completely submerged in the tub of water, the activated ink etches into the previously painted part. The part then goes through a rinsing station where any residual activator is neutralized and rinsed off. The part is now ready for final clear coating, or can be highlighted with airbrush, or pin striped and then cleared bada bing, bada boom! I have heard of this technique a few times over the past couple of years and have seen it at some of the trade shows. About a year ago we had a customer from San Marcos (Chester Wagner) actually show us an old Studebaker dash that he had dipped. This dash panel looked exactly like carbon fiber and you could not tell that it wasn't. He clear coated the panel and it is in the Studebaker at this moment. The process allows you to get into the Custom world that until now meant spending lots of money on airbrushing .at a fraction of the cost! Until now, it was difficult to even find someone who offered this service Until Now! Clint Hoese, local resident of Bulverde Texas and co-owner of The Hose corporation / Leather Like products (custom saddle bags and accessories for every motorcycle imaginable) started noticing more and more requests for custom paint vs. the standard black on the Leather Like products. Since securing custom painters with the proper and God given talent was both difficult and expensive he decided to explore his options. That s when he found the Hydrographic system. Although it was originally installed as a value add to the existing line of products Clint started experimenting with Gun stocks, auto headlights, tail lights, door panels, dash pads, motorcycle fenders and fuel tanks. He soon realized that the possibilities were almost endless. Now for you custom guys that are worried about this infringing on your craft, think again! (Not really, but it sure sounded good!) Health: As mentioned in last month s edition I will have a health segment in every newsletter. Since this is the first of them, I think I should start by telling you my personal story. Four years ago my youngest daughter was pretty much at the end of her rope with chronic asthma. That kid was literally allergic to everything and there wasn't a week that went by that she wasn't sick. This condition was also holding her back, in that, she couldn't really partake in most of the activities that other girls her age could. She was on so much prescription medication that I worried about her future health as well as happiness. After exhausting doctors and specialists I decided to take her to a homeopathic doctor who was recommended by a friend of mine. I ll say right now that I really started having second thoughts when I saw this guy in action. It wasn't until he pricked her finger, took a drop of her blood, put it under a microscope that was interfaced with a computer monitor (all this right in front of us) and began educating us on what appeared. That impressed me! What we saw was clear reasons for why she was so sick! I was told to put her on a strict anti fungal gluten free diet, and was given a list of foods she could have and a list of things she absolutely could not have. I was then told to come back in three weeks. When we got home and for three or four days I noticed she felt like she was boxed in and deprived because she couldn't eat much of anything and I didn't know enough about all the new labeled food to make a decent meal for her. Meanwhile, I and my other daughter were eating all the crap we were used to. When she brought it to my attention, I felt like a real heel for forcing her to do what we weren t willing to do, so we changed our diet with her. Apparently when she was at school she was cheating, because when we went back she still had problems with her blood cells. What should have taken three weeks, ended up taking nine weeks, but in that time we got pretty good with knowing what was good and what was bad and got even better with making nutritious meals out of it. I noticed about three weeks into it that I was all of the sudden sleeping all the way through the night, I was actually dreaming , and when I woke up I was ready to rock, and could out work people half my age! Cheyenne checked out good when we went back and was off her inhaler and the meds, and continued to stay that way until she eventually went back to live with her mother (she s a hard sell and was raised differently). At any rate I can tell you that for four years I have stuck with it and haven't had so much as a cold! I have expanded on what Kevin Amen has taught me and eat to my blood type (O). Several of you that see me occasionally have mentioned my weight and appearance and I have told you what the deal was, but I waited intentionally to write about it. Back a few months ago I made it policy at The Paint Spot that to stay employed here, you had to spend at least 15 minutes per day exercising on equipment that I bought expressly for that purpose. At the same time I started purchasing Cook right for your blood type by Dr. Peter J. D adamo 10 books at a time. Although it's optional for the employees to adhere to this information, they slowly chose to on their own. Furthermore, anyone who comes in or asks about it gets one for free, as long as they're committed to using it. Now I finally have some news to report: My oldest daughter (who spent most of her life growing up in Idaho with her mother) came to work for me in mid May 2012. She was way over weight and at this point she has lost 130 lbs and her goal is to loose another 64, where she will be height / weight proportionate. I stay at 197 lbs (even though I drink more beer than the average five guys), and I was (at one point) up to 249 lbs. David has lost 50 lbs and although he has C.O.P.D. and a pace maker, his health is better than it was five years ago. Casey goes up and down, but has managed to shed 25 lbs (both him and David cheat a bit). Jessica is the hard body from hell . Cheyenne is a beautiful and reasonably healthy proportionate 17 year old who is presently using psychology on her mother in an effort to move them both to a healthy lifestyle. None of us take any prescription medicine, and with exception to Jessica, none of us have or even want health care insurance.

My mother has been diabetic for years and has had two strokes, and after a few trips to Kevin she takes no prescription blood thinners ( she was taking Zocor, and Plavix) and has not taken insulin since her last visit (7 months ago) to the real doctor Kevin .

Ok, although there are three other references to the definition of this word, this one is the first, and for the purpose of what is to follow, it will do quite fine. I think that since this is the first issue with this segment, it's befitting that we start at the beginning. Our instruction manual offers all that is necessary for us to zero or re-calibrate ourselves and consequently offer up what is Right . It is all there and it has always been There , but we have walked away thinking we were so smart we didn't need it anymore.
